40 MLD Common Effluent Treatment Plant

“Engineering Excellence at Scale – World’s Largest and one of its kind 40 MLD CETP”

Project Overview

The 40 MLD Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) at Saykha is a landmark environmental infrastructure project, designed to manage and treat high-strength, complex industrial effluents generated by the Saykha Industrial Estate in Gujarat.

Recognised as the world’s largest CETP with a six-stage treatment process, the facility provides reliable treatment capacity for one of India’s fastest-growing industrial clusters. By ensuring compliance with stringent norms, the plant supports sustainable industrial growth while reducing environmental impact.

The six-stage process includes advanced physical, chemical, and biological systems, featuring a two-stage biological treatment with a Biotower system and an advanced oxidation ditch. Treated water is suitable for non-potable reuse, helping reduce freshwater demand in the region.

Project Objectives

  • Provide a centralised treatment solution for complex and variable industrial effluents from multiple units in the Saykha Industrial Estate.
  • Ensure consistent compliance with environmental norms for effluent discharge.
  • Enable safe discharge or reuse of treated water to reduce dependence on freshwater resources.
  • Support long-term sustainable industrial operations in Bharuch.

The Challenge

The Saykha cluster generates complex, high-strength effluents from a variety of industries. Treating such diverse wastewater streams requires a robust, multi-stage system capable of managing load variations while maintaining compliance with strict discharge standards.

The Solution

Enviro engineered and executed a six-stage CETP process to handle the challenge of complex wastewater at scale. The system integrates physical-chemical treatment, two-stage biological treatment (Biotower + oxidation ditch), and advanced polishing stages, delivering consistently high-quality effluent.

The Results

  • Successful treatment of 40 MLD of industrial effluent, making this the world’s largest CETP of its kind.
  • Compliance with CPCB and GPCB environmental standards.
  • Treated water available for non-potable reuse, supporting water conservation.
  • A benchmark project demonstrating engineering excellence and sustainability at scale.

Why It Matters

The Saykha CETP demonstrates Enviro’s ability to deliver large-scale, complex effluent treatment solutions for industrial clusters. It sets a global benchmark for centralised industrial wastewater management and positions Gujarat as a leader in sustainable industrial infrastructure.
